Sapwood is not a defect!

Currently working on a stand up writing desk for a client.  I was able to find great Walnut to use for the top.  After removing the bark, and hand planning the band saw tracks from the saw mill I uncovered beautiful off white sapwood.

Utilizing a mitered breadboard technique the sapwood is picture framed as shown below.

    This is similar to a desk I saw Roy Underhill make. A simple design with not so simple joinery. Fine work! And the walnut is wonderful, one of my favorite species.
